Your first visit
What to expect.
Your first appointment is a full psychiatric evaluation. We’ll talk about what brings you in, your history, your work and creative life, and what you want to feel different.
Then we decide on a plan together. That may include medication, therapy, genetic testing, or a referral if someone else is a better fit.
We see adults 18 and older, virtually or in person at our Gramercy office on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Bring with you

Our story
Family owned since 2014.
MetroNP started in 2014 with one psychiatric nurse practitioner and a simple idea: creative people deserve care from someone who gets them. Twelve years later we’ve grown into a team and a second state, and we’re still family owned.
That matters. No outside investors set the length of your appointment, and no app decides your treatment. The people who built this practice are the people responsible for your care.
We know this work from the inside.
Our founder is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, adjunct faculty at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing, and a working standup comedian who has performed at Gotham Comedy Club and New York Comedy Club, and a proud member of Theatre68 and Manhattan Comedy School.
That means we understand auditions, rejection, irregular income, late nights, and the fear that treatment will dull your edge. Our goal is the opposite: care that protects your work and your well-being at the same time.

Care is provided by our team of psychiatric clinicians, led by founder Shannon Carroll, PMHNP-BC. The office is run by Registered Nurses.
We work closely with therapists, primary care providers, and other colleagues so that your care is coordinated, thorough, and built around you.

Students
Caring for New York’s students.
MetroNP works with students from schools and universities across New York: undergraduates, graduate students, and student artists navigating coursework, auditions, deadlines, and the particular intensity of coming of age in this city.
Our ties to NYU run especially deep. Our founder serves on the adjunct faculty at NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing and trained in NYU’s Mental Health Program, and our Gramercy office sits just minutes from campus.
We accept school insurance. Student health plans are welcome here, including NYU’s Aetna Student Health plan. Students on Aetna book directly with us through our client portal, so getting real psychiatric care doesn’t have to wait until after graduation. We see students 18 and older.
Between classes or between semesters, in person or virtually: bring your student ID and your whole mind.
Nursing students and clinicians: we also offer clinical supervision and training support. Call us to learn more.

We see adults 18 and older. Open Monday through Friday, 10am to 6pm. In New York, in-person sessions are offered Monday and Wednesday, with virtual visits throughout the week.
